Music Monday: DVSN
I recently came across DVSN, aka "division." As stupid as it sounds, I was really into the abbreviation of their name and then I came across "Try / Effortless" off of SEPT 5TH by DVSN and I was all "okay okay yeah yeah I totally like you."
Drake has an interesting way of finding young fresh talent, so don't be surprised that DVSN is signed to OVO Sound. As if it wasn't clear enough, Canada is home of talented individuals including Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85, which are the two fellas that make up DVSN. When it comes to describing SEPT 5TH think 2013 JMSN beats (another rad dude with a rad band name) but with a heavier R&B lyrical presence. I'm not going to lie, some lyrics by Daniel make me hope no one at work can overhear the sexual references through my headphones.
So far they have only played in 10 concerts this year, being the first year they perform in large audiences (mainly because they are performing with Drake), but I won't be surprised if they pick up some more shows pretty soon.
